In A Moving Frequency, Cyrielle Gulacsy has decided to focus entirely upon a single, specific, light-frequency – one that manifests itself much closer to home in the powerfully transcendent form of a unique and singular, blue, wavelength visible to us on Earth. The exhibition comprises eight, identically-sized, 70 7/8 x 59 1/16 in. (180 x 150 cm) paintings, each one radiating a near-identical shade of a deep, ethereal, iridescent blue.

Mignoni Gallery is proud to present “Underlying Modularity”, an exhibition juxtaposing two female text-based artists— Chryssa and Jenny Holzer—whose work uses language as a motif to analyze industrial and contemporary mass media.

Mignoni is pleased to present the gallery’s first solo exhibition of the work of Joel Shapiro (b.1941) on view from May 4th through June 30th. The exhibition consists of vibrant, colorful works on paper spanning from 1988 – 2022.

Mignoni is pleased to present the gallery’s first exhibition with Los Angeles based American artist Rob Reynolds (b.1966). Reynolds works primarily in painting and sculpture, and this is the first public-facing presentation of his multi-layered Icebergs project. While his ongoing approach attempting to reframe select Conceptual, Minimalist, and Pop art strategies with the ecological are on display, this recent body of work has a new concern: an invitation to contemplation, attempting to embody the Arctic as an artistic condition.

Mignoni is pleased to present the gallery’s first exhibition with Dutch-born American painter Peter Schuyff (b.1958). This will be a solo exhibition showcasing a startling new group of 8 vibrant and colourful abstract paintings made by the artists throughout 2021 at his studio in Bari, Southern Italy. Taking the form of either a checkerboard grid or a succession of vertical, coloured stripes that have been disrupted by illusionistic light effects or shadows appearing to fall upon their surfaces from some unknown, exterior source, these powerful geometric paintings playfully operate in an ambiguous space that is simultaneously both representational and abstract. Functioning according to their own logic, they belong to a type of work that Schuyff has made consistently, ever since first coming to prominence in New York in the 1980s.

Mignoni is pleased to present Cy Twombly | Barry X Ball: A History of Painting and Sculpture. In collaboration with McCABE FINE ART, this exhibition explores how both American artists’ works were heavily influenced by their lifelong inspiration from the rich cultural heritage and history of Italy. The work presents key examples of these artists’ unique approach to sculpture and painting and the shared goal of reimagining the work of masters into new poetic artworks.

The gallery’s first exhibition with Cyrielle Gulacsy (b. 1994), a self-taught French artist whose work is inspired by research from the astronomy and astrophysics disciplines. Her work, delving from a natural interest in things like space-time and electromagnetism, to the diffraction of light, is meant to, in a factual yet palpable way, offer a glimpse of the invisible reality that surrounds us, with all of its dizzying dimensions. Gulacsy hopes the work arouses a curiosity within the viewer, and evokes an enlightenment in his or her vision of the world. Light in the Distance comprises a sequence of paintings and sculptures drawn from almost all areas of her practice. As its title suggests, the show is founded upon ideas of light as it is both manifested and perceived at a variety of different cosmic distances from the Earth.

Mignoni is pleased to present the gallery’s first exhibition with New York City-based artist Alice Attie. It will be Attie’s first solo exhibition in New York since 2014, for which she has produced new work. The show will include drawings, paintings, and works on paper from three different series: C 19. Attie’s C19 series was made over many months during the lockdown in New York City. Each of these paintings and drawings consists of repeated marks that meet the surface of the canvas or paper, over and over, in incremental shifts. The works are elegiac and celebratory, marking both presence and absence: every mark is in the name of. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. These ink-on-paper drawings, made between 2015 and 2021, are inspired by the late lectures of Michel Foucault. The lectures concern the history, practices, and disciplines of the concept of care. The subtle distinction between writing and drawing, between meaning and the suspension of it, is the formal tension that Attie invokes. STONES. Attie’s gouache-on-paper Stone paintings were completed in 2020. The six works were inspired by stones gathered from beaches around the world. Alice Attie’s practice embraces the repetitive, both as a theoretical and formal concept. Her works are sites of becoming, composed of marks that, over time and through gradual shifts, trace the possibilities of inscription.
